Day One:
Our adventure begins with a visit to the Erie Maritime Museum, homeport of the replica US Brig Niagara that fought in the battle of Lake Erie. Overlooking Presque Isle Bay, the interactive museum showcases the history of the battle along with many other programs and displays. Board the Niagara for a glimpse back in time to the glory of America’s fi rst navy and the age of the Fighting Sail!
Following lunch on our own in historic downtown, we will tour St. Patrick Church, The Spirit of the Bayfront. The stunning structure is known worldwide for the life-size hand carved Stations of the Cross, massive hand painted windows, and amazing column free architecture.
I have chosen the fabulous NEW Sheraton Bayfront Hotel as our host for the night. Enjoy stunning harbor front views of Erie’s Bayfront Marine District. Full of charm and ambiance, the stylish hotel offers sweeping views of Presque Isle Bay, spacious rooms, indoor pool and hot tub. Dinner will be included on site at the Bayfront Grille featuring delicious cuisine and breathtaking views of the bay.
Following Dinner we will depart to the Erie Playhouse for an all new production “All Shook Up”. The playhouse is ranked in the top 10 and is one of the oldest and largest community theaters in the US. The show is set in 1955 when a mysterious, guitar playing stranger rides through town helping everyone he meets discover the romance and power of music! This delightful and energetic musical adventure features 24 of Elvis’s greatest hits!
Day Two:
Following a bountiful breakfast buffet, we will head out for a “delicious” tour of Pulakos Chocolates. Envelope your senses in the luscious aroma of rich chocolate as your guide explains the sweet detail of the production line spanning over 100 years of family history! Free time to indulge in samples as you browse the store fi lled with their signature sponge taffy, truffl es, creams, clusters, and more!
We will continue our adventure with a visit to Presque Isle State Park beginning with the Tom Ridge Environmental Center and Nature Shop. The center showcases the unique 3200 acres of the park which is known world-wide as a major bird watching area. The park features an amusement area where you can choose from a ride on the classic Ferris Wheel or more adventurous wooden roller coaster!
Following lunch at the pavilion we will embark on a cruise of the bay for amazing vistas and views. Dinner will be on your own with some free time to try Lady Luck at the Presque Isle Casino and Downs before heading for home. Coupon for slot play included.
